FAQs
Tour Down Under Transport FAQ
Common questions about our TDU services
When should I book TDU transport?
As early as possible. Tour Down Under is a major international event, and Barossa accommodation and transport books out months in advance. We recommend booking 2-3 months ahead, especially for the Barossa stage (January 21).
Can you navigate the road closures on race day?
Yes. We've operated during TDU for years and know exactly which roads close when. We'll plan routes that get you to viewing spots without getting stuck behind the peloton. This is where local knowledge matters.
What time do I need to be at viewing spots?
For prime spots like Menglers Hill summit or Tanunda finish line, we recommend arriving 1-2 hours before the race. We'll advise on timing based on where you want to watch and create a pickup schedule accordingly.
Can I watch the race AND do wine tasting?
Absolutely - this is our specialty. The race typically passes through Barossa in the morning/early afternoon. Once the action's done, we pivot to cellar door visits. You get both experiences in one day.
I'm flying in from overseas - can you pick me up from Adelaide Airport?
Yes. We provide direct Adelaide Airport to Barossa Valley transfers. We track your flight, so if you're delayed, we adjust. No stress, no scrambling for transport after a long flight.
Do you offer transport to other TDU stages?
Our core area is Barossa Valley, but we can arrange Adelaide CBD pickups for any stage. For Adelaide Hills stages (Uraidla, Stirling, Paracombe), we can drop and collect. Contact us to discuss.
What size groups can you transport?
From solo travellers to groups of 60+. We have sedans (4 passengers), maxi-taxis (11 passengers), minibuses (21 passengers), and can arrange coaches for larger groups. Cycling clubs are welcome.
Is there parking available on race day?
Limited and chaotic. Race day parking in Tanunda fills fast and many roads are closed. This is exactly why pre-booked transport makes sense - we drop you at the action, you don't worry about where to park.
What if the race timing changes?
Race schedules can shift slightly. We monitor official TDU communications and adjust your pickup times accordingly. You'll always be informed of any changes to the plan.
Can I book for multiple days of TDU?
Yes. We offer multi-day packages covering airport arrival, Barossa stage viewing, wine tours, and departure transfer. Contact us to build a custom TDU week itinerary.
